the Golden Oecumene trilogy was probably his best.

b – the reason i brought that up was because the energy expenditure problem for interstellar travel actually winds up being a major plot point. Wright refers to it as “the Cold Equations”.

Wright does have a fascination ( and deep knowledge of ) the old pulp sci-fi from 50s and earlier and that is reflected in some of his plotting and characterization choices.

which characterizations, of course, drive the modern SJW and his tender sensibilities quite mad. these are the same sorts of people who lose their shit over Mark Twain saying “nigger”.
